Learn to Sew with Lace Zippers

Sewing with Lace Zippers adds a fun, unique touch to your projects, and it’s a lot easier than you might think. I had never sewn with lace zippers until last year, and now I love to use them because of the charm they add to my projects.

I created a video to help you learn to use them. In the vide you’ll see me using lace zippers on vinyl, but the great thing is they can be used on fabric the exact same way!

To use your lace zipper on fabric, simply finish the edge of your fabric with bias tape, just like we did the vinyl in the video, and you’ll be all set to sew the lace zipper on!

Where to Find Lace Zippers

I had one lace zipper in my zipper stash that someone had given me in a swap, it stuck around for years and then I finally used it on the Rae Pencil Case you see above, and suddenly I wanted more! I grabbed this pack on Amazon because I wanted them quickly and I loved the shapes they came with as part of the lace.

But, if you’d prefer to buy the zippers one at a time, I had some luck finding a few shops on Etsy. I am just sending you to the Etsy search results page because different shops had different lengths and colors available.

More Lace Zipper Sewing Projects

In addition to the Rae Pencil Case, project pouches are a great thing to sew with lace zippers. Just attach the zipper to vinyl like I did in the video, add a backing of some sort, and then bind and voila, project pouch!
