Who Designs the Fabrics I’m Sewing With
To follow up with my previous blog post on where I buy my fabric, I wanted to share a little bit about my favorite fabrics in general. Let me start off by saying that my fabric is a collection from the past 12 years, so many of my favorite fabrics are out of print, but I bought larger pieces and am still using them.
Use the Good Stuff
For a while, I mostly bought new fabrics to share on the blog and Instagram because I felt bad showing things that were out of print. But, I do really love my older fabrics so much that I wanted to use the good stuff. Of course, when I started using my favorites again I started getting so many DMs asking where to find the fabrics. In this blog post, I’m sharing some of my favorite fabrics and designers so you can look for similar prints available today!
Know The Fabric Designers
I’m going to share the designers whose fabrics I use most often. I do often find prints by a variety of other designers that I love as well. But almost every favorite someone asks about came from one of the following designers.
Bonnie & Camille Fabrics by Moda
I think I use Bonnie & Camille Fabric in almost all of my projects. They’re a mother/daughter team and use vintage feedback prints in all my favorite colors. Bonnie, the mom, has since retired, but Camille still designs fabric and her new line is too sweet. The two lines of fabric you see here are some of my favorites, from 2011 & 2012!
Heather Ross Fabrics by Windham
If you’re not familiar with Heather Ross and all the fussy cutting goodness of her fabrics, you need to be! One of my favorites for all the cute little pictures for fussy cutting. For a while I was disappointed that I’d missed some of her older fabric lines. However, I’ve loved everythign new that’s come out, so if you haven’t been collecting yet, now’s a great time to start. You can see more of her fabrics here.
Tasha Noel Fabrics for Riley Blake
Another favorite fussy cutting fabric designer is Tasha Noel. I love the size of her motifs and how nicely spaced they are, I often buy a larger piece of my favorites so I’m sure not to run out! You can see that all Tasha’s fabrics come in my favorite colors, pink, aqua, white, and navy! You can check out more of her fabrics here and all the other cute things she sells here.
Elea Lutz Fabric for Poppy Cotten
Another favorite you’ll see me using often is Elea Lutz Fabric. Sweet florals and soft colors are my favorites, and of course, add some prints that are perfect for fussy cutting! You can see more of Elea’s fabrics here.
Denyse Schmidt for Windham
The very first designer fabrics I bought were Denyse Schmidt Katie Jump Rope. Since then I’ve collected a variety of Denyse Schmidt fabrics. I love that they’re somewhere between blenders (fabrics that read as one color) and prints, and they always work well with my Bonnie & Camille fabrics. See more of Denyse Schmidt’s fabircs here.
Atsuko Matsuyama for Yuwa
Who does not love strawberry fabrics? One of my absolute favorites for strawberry prints is Atsuko Matsuyama, these sweet fabrics always catch everyone’s eye when I use them. I wasn’t able to find a website for Atsuko Matsuyama, but you can get her fabrics at Country & Cloth and a variety of other shops around the web.
Rifle Paper Co Fabric for Cotton + Steel
I’ve loved Rifle Paper Co prints for years, so I was so excited when they started creating fabric and have collected all the prints from many of their lines (thought I might have a little bit of catching up to do). These prints and fabrics just make my heart sing. Check out all the gorgeous fabrics and other things here, I have a wide variety of Rifle Paper Co accessories as well!
Liberty of London Fabric
This list wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include Liberty of London fabric. The sweet, ditsy florals are always eye catching! I don’t use a lot of Liberty prints in my sewing because they’re so special. But seeing how many I’ve collected reminds me that I need to use them more! Find so many gorgous Liberty prints at Alice Caroline Fabrics!
Wrap Up
As always, there are so many gorgeous fabrics out there, but I think sometimes, since we’re mostly looking online, it can be hard to know what to look for! So, I hope this helps you find some new favorites or reminds you of something you have in your stash!
Happy Sewing!

PS If you want more info on the Acrylic Boxes you see in this post, you can read about them here!
Hi Jennie
I would love to know what you are using to hold up all your fabric that way please.
I have just moved into my sewing room and would love to store the fabric that way, instead of on top of each other .
thanks Lesley
Hi Lesley,
I use comic boards to wrap my fabric like mini bolts. You can find them on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/44BM7NK
Hope that helps!
