Scrappy Medallion Quilt – Painted Sky
I am excited to finally share my finished scrappy Painted Sky Medallion Quilt on the blog today. This quilt has been over a year in the making, because I couldn’t decide on the last border. Eventually, I chose flying geese and I know it was the right choice. I loved using all my scrappy, favorite fabrics to make this quilt truly special.
Join the Sewing Club to get your copy
The Painted Sky Medallion Quilt is available just to Clover & Violet Sewing Club members, so to get your copy, join the club before December 10th and you’ll have it to make whenever you choose. Sewing Club Members receive one full-size quilt pattern each year, so this is our 2022 quilt.
Quilt Block Variety
One of the things I love most about Medallion Quilts is that one can use a variety of simple quilt blocks to make a quilt that is truly stunning and looks complex. This medallion quilt is made of just a few basic block types. They are Square-in-a-square, Flying Geese, Pinwheels, and Half Square Triangles. Yet, it still has a complex and detailed look.
Scrappy Fabrics in the Medallion Quilt
If you’ve been around Clover & Violet very long, you’ll know I have a love of scrappy fabrics and a medallion quilt is the best place to show them off. Since the pieces are small and the quilt has a lot of block variety as well, it is the perfect place to use those special scraps or fussy cut the fabrics you love for the quilt.
Quilting & Photography
I cannot finish this blog post before I tell you about the amazing quilting and photography on this quilt. I sent it to be quilted by Sandy of Thai Charm, LLC. Her work was not only beautiful, but also so speedy. Sandy is also a dear friend and was my roommate when I had the privilege of visiting Art Gallery Fabrics.
The quilt was photographed by the lovely Megan of The Quiltographer. She did a stunning job capturing the bright prints and bringing the quilt to life.
