Rosa Sew Along – Week 1 – Fabric and Cover
For the first week of the Rosa Supply Case Sew Along we’re choosing fabrics and sewing the cover. The cover in the pattern uses two fabrics, a print and a linen, to give a book cover feel.
The pattern calls for and references linen simply to show you where its used, but you can substitute any fabric you’d like.
For my cover I used the standard cover but added some Liberty of London 1” hexagons. I used Nicole of Modern Handcraft’s #modernhexies method of using a glue stick to place the hexagons, a hera marker to draw quilting the lines, and then used the walking foot on my machine to quilt them.
Chrissy at Sew Lux made this fabulous quilt as you go cover for her Rosa Case. One thing to take into consideration is that the cover is oversized by about an inch on the width, to account for shrinkage when quilting on foam. If you quilt and your cover is still too big and you don’t want to trim, I’ll be sharing a couple ideas to add width to the inside instead of adjusting the cover.
Still haven’t signed up for the sew along? It’s not too late to join us, the sew along lasts three weeks, but you can make the case in just a day or two. Sign up here and share on social media using the tags #rosasewalong22 for a chance to win this week’s prize, a quarter yard bundle from Chasing Quilts!
As always, a big thank you to all our sponsors, who make this sew along possible!
