Finishing a Quilt
The best part about moving is finding things that were lost! Take this quilt, it’s been sitting in a box for approximately four years until I finished it this weekend.

I started this quilt back in 2016 and made the whole top before tucking it away. I used my Take Along Quilt tutorial, the first quilt tutorial I shared in 2009. We’ve moved twice since then, and the quilt, along with the backing and fabric for binding, resurfaced a couple weeks ago.

I spray basted using a homemade spray baste recipe I found online at String & Story, and then quilted it with wavy lines, my favorite, easy quilting method.

When I packed it up I wanted to add some washing instructions, so I made this little label to send with it, I thought it turned out really cute, so I uploaded it and you can download your own here!

This quilt is now on its way to a dear friend and I hope it feels like the big hug I’d love to give her!

It’s beautiful – and will be a perfect hug for the recipient. Love the quilting – my favorite too – and your sweet label.
What a fantastic treasure to find. I’m sure your friend will absolutely love her new quilt.
How fun is that to find a misplaced quilt top. And good for you for getting it finished and passed on! Thanks for sharing the label instructions. Sometimes in the past I have thought about doing that, but now I will keep these and copy them for all the quilts sent out in the future!
