Pretty Present Quilted Pillow :: Aurifil Artisan Challenge
As you know, I’m a 2019 Aurifil Artisan, so each month there are challenges for the Artisans to share their use and love of Aurifil (I’ve been sewing with Aurifil exclusively for a few years now, so applying to be an Artisan seems like the logical next step!). The December Aurifil Challenge was to make a holiday project. I really love pulling out my Pixelated Present pillow every year, so it seemed like a great compliment to add this Pretty Present Quilted Pillow pillow to go with it (you can find the pattern at Sew Lux here).
I free motion quilted this pillow using a loopy meander quilting. I don’t free motion quilt often, but it was fun to practice on a project that finished up so quickly. I love how my favorite Auriful thread color, Blush 2415 blends in so well! Pink seems to be the perfect thread for just about everything!
I used Aurifil 50wt in my favorite light pink, Blush 2415. Seriously, I could use this color for everything (remember my Cork tote with embroidery?). I love using light colors for my quilting, because they don’t distract from the Pretty Present Quilted Pillow but instead add a nice complement.
Overall, this was a fun, quick project that I know I’ll enjoy for years to come. The pillow finished at 18″ and is fun and festive. And honestly, who doesn’t love presents year round? I think it would be a great addition with seasonal fabric for any time of year!
I hope this inspires you to add some quilted pillows to your holiday decor! Making quilted pillow covers is my favorite way to spruce up my couches without having to purchase a bunch of seasonal items. They store easily and are fun to bring out as the seasons change!
