The Phoebe Phone & ID Case {Free Pattern}

| |

Phoebe-Phone-CaseThe saying “necessity is the mother of invention” is the truth. I don’t have an iPhone…and so, all the cute cases and phone wallets, etc, don’t fit my phone. But, I am always finding myself grabbing my phone and ID and sticking them in my pocket, but not needing my whole purse. So, I made a little phone & ID case and I hope you’ll like it too!

Phoebe-Phone-Case-3I’ve been using it for about a week now, and it’s exactly what I was hoping for. But, I know not everyone’s phone is the same size as mine, so the directions come with the measurements for my little case, as well as a worksheet to make a case to fit your phone!

Phoebe-Phone-Case-4I made a second case for my friend’s iPhone 6, which she keeps in a case, so it’s a little bulkier than most (the measurements for it are found on the sample worksheet in the PDF).

Phoebe-Phone-Case-2One option too, is to add a little D-Ring so you can clip your keys, if you want to keep everything together.

Phoebe-Phone-Case-5I just love how cute these turned out. I hope you’ll find the pattern as useful as I did! If you’d like to pin it for later, here’s a pinterest friendly image:

  2. Adorable and useful! I love it! I don’t have an iPhone, either, but boy is there a lot of stuff out there to accessorize them! Thanks for a different option.

  3. This is adorable!! I think that I may whip some of these up for the spring birthdays in my life. (And your site is so, so pretty. I just spent way too much time looking at all the gorgeous images!)

  4. This is so cute! Just what I needed, also. I don’t have a large phone either & have played around on paper designing one, but yours is perfect! Thank you so much – & now to the stash…

  5. I have been looking for something like this. Thanks for the tutorial. I do have one concern. I understand that keeping things like credit cards and those magnetic hotel key card next to a cell phone can cause the magnetic strip to malfunction. (It did happen to me once with the hotel magnetic key-card when I stored it in the same case as my phone.) I will be making me one of these though, but will be careful with my cards.

    1. Hi! I had heard similar rumors, so I looked into it before making this case. It is very common with hotel keys because they are designed to be re-programmable. However, it is highly unlikely that a cell phone signal will be strong enough to damage a credit card, since their strips are not the same as hotel key strips. The hotel key problem has happened to me before too, but I’ve never had an issue with a credit card. Hope that helps!

      1. Thank you. I knew the hotel magnet strips were not as strong as credit card. I’m glad to hear you had checked into that. I wonder, have you investigated what material could be used to protect the new chips on credit cards? I keep seeing advertisements for wallets with a lining to shield the chips from being scanned illegally. I’m needing a new wallet and was trying to think what I could use to help protect this identity theft risk. I’m wondering if the heat shield batting like is used for potholders would help.

    2. I have a wallet/phone case and I keep my debit/credit cards in it, it’s right next to my phone closes on top of it, I’ve never had a problem. I went from an iPhone to a Galaxy s4, same thing with the wallet. You should be fine.

      By the way I LOVE this, I’ll be making one for me and possibly both of my sister-in-laws 🙂

  6. I have a BLU phone and this was perfect for my new phone and no cases available…..I added a zipper to my case instead of an open pocket for my ID and money…Thank you Judith, Texas

  7. Thanks for such a great pattern! Made 4 so far! I used a heavy duty snap, the kind you press in with tools.
    Also, I added a zippered pocket on the back!!

  8. Love it. Glad that I found this with detail tutorial. I’m searching for matching fabric from my cabinet now. Will do this soon. Thank you so much for sharing.
