Glisten Quilt Along :: Pillow Finish

I’m still slowly working on my quilt, and it will be my first finish of 2016 (I hope!), but I did make and finish a pillow with four Glisten blocks for a friend a few weeks ago!
For this pillow I used a narrower sashing on the sides than the pattern calls for, to make it fit a 20″ pillow {my couch pillows are a little flat, so it looks a little deflated in this photo!}. I used a variety of Zen Chic’s Modern Backgrounds Paper in place of the white, and then bright red for the mini shoo fly block that forms in the corners. I did add a narrow (3/4″) sashing to the outer edge to add some size to the pillow.
I wish I had taken a flat photo, so you could see all the details, but that’s what happens when things get shipped out fast! I had a great time choosing Christmas-y prints for this pillow and fussy cutting the center. I finished the back like I do most pillows, with an invisible zipper, you can see my tutorial here.
I hope this gives you some inspiration for your Glisten quilt! And, if you’re thinking about picking up a copy of the pattern, it will be on sale through the New Year, so there’s still a little time to pick one up.
This will probably be my last post until after New Year as well, as I’m going to be spending time with family and probably away from my sewing machine! Hope your holidays are blessed!
