Urban Scandinavian Sewing Bloggers Book Tour {& Giveaway}
Today is my stop on the Urban Scandinavian Sewing Bloggers Book Tour! The book tour runs for two weeks through Monday, August 31, and I’m joining five other talented sewing bloggers to share Kirstyn Cogan’s new book, Urban Scandinavian Sewing, available for purchase at C&T publishing and Amazon.
I really enjoyed looking through this book and trying to decide what project I’d like to make from it. I finally settled on the Drafty Door Decor project, because we get a lot of snow and cold in the winter, and our door is a bit drafty, so it seemed meant to be {in hindsight though, trying to take a photo of such a long, narrow project is very difficult! I did my best!}
The project in the book called for felt, but I decided Moda Mochi Linen Dot and Aqua Cross Weave would look great with my living room. Plus, I love the woven look of the fabrics.
I did a zig zag stitch around my teardrop shapes, since I knew my fabrics would fray, but I used a coordinating thread to help the thread blend in.
This project came together fairly quickly, the directions were easy to follow. Now I’m thinking I need to make a second one for my other door.
In addition to the beautiful, minimalist projects, the book contains a collection of recipes and Scandinavian inspiration. I just love the clean look of all the projects and the photography in the book is just gorgeous.
Here’s the schedule for the rest of the blog hop:
WEEK OF AUGUST 17

oh this is great! I know a new Chicagoite who would love something like this for the fall!
I most look forward, not to sewing a particular item just yet, but to the browsing/ dreaming through the book.
Your Drafty Door Decor is great, I would love to make one too!
I love the bed quilt
I think I’d like to make the Swedish Christmas Porridge! It looks like a beautiful book, one I’d love to own!
Living in northern Canada , the drafty door decor is just what I will need in the very near future.
Hi there,
I’d like to add the tea towel pattern to my kitchen!
Thanks!

PS: many people do not have cell phones and therefore cannot get an Instagram account. It is a real shame that people without Instagram accounts lose out on those 7 extra entries for this contest.
Hi Jacqueline,
This giveaway was set up by C & T Publishing and Instagram is a very popular form of social media. While it does require a device to use, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a smart phone (many tablets/iPods/even old smart phones not on a phone plan work) and one doesn’t need a phone plan, just an internet connection.
Interestingly, while I’ve been using Instagram for over two years, I just got a smart phone for the first time in July! But, I definitely see your point, and will pass your thoughts on to C & T Publishing! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
Jennie
I have an instagram account on my computer. Or maybe I can access it on my computer because I have an smart phone. Oh, I don’t know, sometimes this technology makes my head hurt.
I’d love to make that elf/gnome. He is so cute! Thanks for the lovely giveaway.
The pieced wool scarf is definitely on my to-do list!
I love the gnome!
I like the Drafty Door Décor. Like you, I’d probably choose to make it in cotton or linen instead of felt.
We have 3 drafty doors in our house, so I would make the door decor for all of them~ it would look much better than what we currently use. LOL Thanks for the fun!
I like the draft stopper you made. may need to give that a try.
