The Felicity Bag: More Versions
Last week when I shared the Felicity bag, I was still waiting on a photo from a tester, so I didn’t share their versions. But here they are! This first bag is made by Cindy of Fluffy Sheep Quilting, isn’t it cute?
She used Vintage Happy by Lori Holt for the prints and Essex Linen for the body. The bright fabrics stand out so great against the solid background.
This bag was made by Sandie of crazy’boutquilts, and she used a dark corduroy for the body of her bag. Again, I love the contrast of the hexagons! And, of course, I love the happy-go-lucky by Bonnie & Camille she used for the hexagons.
And here’s a picture of how the bag looks from above. The pattern has the option to have the frame purse either match the lining or use a separate fabric. I love how the separate fabric gives the illusion there’s a second purse inside the first!
And here’s a version I made of the Felicity bag this weekend. The fabric is Geofabulous by Maude Asbury for Blend Fabrics {my mom pieced all those lovely hexagons, isn’t she great?!}. I think using a subtle print for the bag body, behind the hexagons, looks really nice.
This bag is on its way to Blend Fabrics now, to be displayed in their quilt market booth {but I kind of want to keep it!}.
If you’re thinking about making a Felicity bag, I think you’ll be happy with the result. And, if you make one, we’d love to see it! You can add the photos to our Flickr group or share on Instagram and tag #cloverandviolet and #felicitybag. Can’t wait to see them!
Being mildly obsessed with hexagons I absolutely love this bag. The frame I find somewhat intimidating but I am certain your directions would beautifully get me through the process. Definitely on my to buy list!
Melissa~ the frame is really easy! Try it! I just love these bags. I realized I got a bit carried away sewing around the hexagons~ I did all sides! :-/ Next time will go even faster. LOL Thank you Jennie for trusting me with your pattern!
These are fabulous. I love the Geofabulous version – not sure I could pull it off in everyday use but it makes my heart soar with the colour.
They are ALL looking so much fun. This is such a great pattern.
So the frame purse is attached all the way inside. It looked a bit like it was possibly just temporarily attached so you could pull it out. Fun look!
