The Fabric Makes the Bag: the Lucy hobo
Lately it seems like blogging is a Catch-22: if I sew I don’t have time to blog, and if I blog, I don’t have time to sew (or anything to blog about!). But, I’m stopping in today to show you what a couple others have been sewing lately. First up, this amazing version of the Lucy hobo by Nicole of Modern Handcraft. I love how she modified the patchwork portion from the original granny square configuration! You can see all her lovely photos here!
And, here’s another Lucy hobo that’s headed to Quilt Market with Blend Fabrics. I recently met a friend who moved to our area, and then discovered she sewed! So, she made up this pretty bag for us, while I’m working on a few other projects {that you’ll see soon, but you can catch some sneak peeks on Instagram!}.
The fabric is Sweet Siesta by Shell Rummel and is very soft and inviting. It is always amazing to see how different a bag looks from one fabric to the next. That must be why we all love fabric so much, because it isn’t just pretty, it’s a form of self expression.
I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. It’s rainy here, so I’m trapped indoors trying to sew while keeping the little ones entertained. I will say though, I’ve been loving the fall colors everywhere {even if it means summer really is over}. Hope your day is wonderful too!
I love the wool version of this bag – I think I would spend all my time just running my hand over that luscious wool. 🙂
I know where you are coming from with the catch 22 on bloging and sewing. Love Nicole’s version of the Lucy hobo and I agree that the version sewn up with blend fabrics looks really soft and inviting. I would find both hard to put down.
How fun! That’s a cool take with the patchwork.
