Parisville Bella Clutch {Sweet Pouch Swap}
I have a weakness for swaps. There is just something about creating a little package for a quilter I’ve never met, shipping it out, and making a new friend that keeps drawing me in. But lately, amidst all the other things I have going on, I rarely sign up for swaps. But, when I saw Alyce at Blossom Heart Quilts’ announcement of the Sweet Pouch Swap, I decided to join in {sending and receiving a pouch full of goodies, yes please!}. Since today is the mailing deadline, I finished my pouch up last night, and am getting ready to mail it off this morning.
For the pouch I made the Bella clutch {you can download the PDF pattern here}, because it I love a patchwork pouch and it has lots of room for all the sweets I’m sending. Here’s a peek at the things I’ve packed along with it:
My partner is in Germany, so I sent a variety of American candies and maple syrup! When I was trying to think of something truly unique to send {since my partner has lived in the US before}, Maple syrup came to mind because it is somewhat unique to the northeast, where we’re living now. This particular syrup was made in New Hampshire, and was the smallest container I could find. I hope this little box makes its way to Germany quickly!
I already asked on Instagram and Facebook, but what do you think of as iconic American candy {feel free to answer even if you’re not in the US}?
Hershey’s Chocolate of course! I love chocolate and Hershey, Pennsylvania, I am certain loves it, too.
I don’t know about iconic, but my favorite is plain M&Ms. But then I saw Gale’s comment above, about Hershey’s, and I think she’s right on! Your swap partner is going to be thrilled to get her beautiful pouch! Love the colors.
I wonder if the postman can divert that little package this direction! What a wonderful swap. I can’t imagine her not shouting for joy when this arrives. I think of Hershey’s as American. Also, See’s Candies. Not sure if that is even nation wide, but I do love it!
Whenever I visit, I always bring back Jelly Bellys and Twizzlers. We can get the Jelly Bellys here in the UK, but only in limited flavours, I haven’t seen Twizzlers here at all. We are holidaying in the USA next week and both of these things are on the top of my shopping list!
I used to trade goodies with a co-worker in London, and he always loved it when I sent those mini-tootsie rolls and atomic fireballs – he’d never had fireballs before, and he just loved ’em! He used to send me all kinds of loose teas that we don’t have over here. His most requested & iconic treat? Sports Illustrated, Swimsuit issue. Go figure!
I love this pouch with its pleats! Hershey’s would be what I consider truly American. All the sweets in your photo can be purchased here ( although the Ghirardelli is repackaged with another name).
For iconic American candy I think of Hershey’s chocolate bar and a Baby Ruth bar and Wrigley’s gum. Beautiful pouch!!
What a lovely idea for a swap! I think the little pouch is so pretty and love the collection of sweet things to fill it with! When I was a student, many years ago, some friends visited the States and brought me a tootsie roll, which was mentioned in a Beachboy’s song we all liked……so I would think of tootsie rolls first….and then Hershey bars!

Hershey’s chocolate and Cracker Jacks! What is more American than Baseball, hotdogs and cracker jack?
