Kimono PJs for Baby Stella Doll

Baby Stella In PJs

Most of the baby sewing I’ve done so far has actually been for Norah’s Baby Stella doll!  This pattern is from Twinflower Designs {just like the dresses I made in the past} and was pretty easy to put together.  I cut into my stash of My Happy Garden by Cloud 9 Fabrics.  Since the fabric with the birds was fairly thin, I just lined my top with white cotton, instead of making it reversible.  So, then, when it came to the pants, I did the same.

The waist on the pants is finished with a fold-over elastic, which I had never used before, but I must say, is genius!  I bought some Drtiz brand at Joann’s.  My only disappointment was, the elastic got a little stretched out while sewing, so I think I will reduce the length by about 1/2″ next time I make these, so they are a little more snug.  This was probably the fault of the elastic {and the sewer}, not the pattern.

I also finished the edge of the shirt with a blanket stitch {which took a lot longer than I had anticipated}, and used a button and button hole, since I didn’t have the plastic snap tools.  I think it turned out really cute.

I’m planning to make a few more baby clothes for Norah’s baby, so that when we have baby 3 she’ll have some outfits, etc, to change her baby into!

  3. I never knew about this adorable doll until I read about her here. I bought one for my 10 month old granddaughter and I’m going to get these patterns for her. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. So cute! My oldest daughter loved her dolls, my younger daughter had nothing to do with them (she was more into legos) . I hope my someday-granddaughters will love dolls so I can make sweet things like this 🙂
