Sewing Lessons
Although I’ve hardly touched my sewing machine since returning home from vacation {it seems like any sort of kink in my schedule just throws me for a loop!}, I actually spent a lot of time at the sewing machine while we were gone!
My husband’s youngest sister, who just graduated from high school, really wanted to learn how to sew, so we broke out her mom’s lovely Bernina, a Terrain charm pack and yardage, and sewed up this lovely bag.
Actually, we didn’t sew it, she did! I just guided her through the steps, and helped with re-threading the machine, etc. We had a great time, and she was so proud of her work {can you tell?!}:
Hopefully she’ll be getting a chance to do more sewing soon!
love it!!! the bag, your beautiful niece and her smile, and the story of it all. brought tears to my eyes. my ddil looked horrified when i offered her my old brother machine @ 5 years ago, but a couple years later wanted it. she’s been sewing some ever since but now wants to come spend days with me learning all sorts of things–i’m just ecstatic to get to help her and this bag would be a good idea for part of that. thanks for the great story/idea and have a great day
Beautiful young lady with her beautiful bag! What a wonderful job on her bag, love the adjustable strap!
That’s great…a lovely bag too!
She did a wonderful job! And how great to pass along a much loved skill to the next generation:) xoxo Debbie
I could see her going into costume design, actually 🙂

Love the bag and awesome smile…what fun to teach her…
How lucky for her to have you to show her how to sew!
Does that young woman know she had the blessed teacher there is?
What a wonderful gift you have given your sister-in-law. So often these days it seems like the younger generation isn’t blessed with women in their lives who can teach them how to sew, knit, crochet, etc. She sounds like a very lucky young woman, indeed, to be surrounded by talented women who are eager to share their skills. I hope she decides that she wants to keep sewing! 🙂
I know you are so proud that she made the bag herself and it is adorable! She is very fortunate to have you to guide her!
Hugs,
Donna
Good for her. She looks please and she should be. Congrats on her graduation too.

Now that is so cool!! She will remember this time with your for her whole life. =)
