Spell It With Moda ‘S’ Pouch
I did a little last minute sewing yesterday, making my special little boy a snack pouch before he headed off to an afternoon activity. I used the Spell It With Moda letter ‘S’ {find the pattern here}. But when I first made it, the ‘S’ was way too big. So, I used Electric Quilt 7 to scale it down from an 8″ x 10″ block to a 6″ x 7 1/2″ block, and it was perfect!
Here are both blocks side by side {I have yet to decide what to do with the larger one!}. I did add a 1 1/4″ border to the top and sides, and a 2″ border to the bottom.
made a little gusset on the side too, so it will hold his snacks nicely.
And I sewed a little red heart to the inside. Lately he’s been wanting to stay with me instead of going to nursery or children’s church on Sundays, so I wanted him to feel a little extra love while we’re apart! He was pretty excited to pack this up and take it with him, so hopefully it will do the trick!
I’m so happy with the smaller size block, it is so usable! Maybe I’ll scale a few more down for a quilt with some words…in all my free time!
The pouch looks great and the heart inside is just perfect. I think the letter blocks would definitely be more useable in the smaller size. I think you have about as much free time as I have 😉
très joli!
bon week end!

Oh, this is so cute! Grandma approved.
OH wow, Jennie….this is so CUTE….and maybe save the bigger block for his college “snack” bag 🙂 🙂 🙂 In fact, I would totally want one of these for me….and I’d love to sew one. Is this a pattern you created? What a cute, super cute, vintage cute…and, of course, practical idea 😉 🙂 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂 🙂 🙂
p.s. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the little heart detail on the inside. I’d want that for my snack pouch, too 🙂 🙂
Your snack pouch is adorable and what a sweet touch adding the heart inside ; )
Very sweet. Piecing letters is so fun. I like what you did
This pouch is adorable. I love the idea of a letter on the pouch.
What a special little pouch!! Oh, I remember those heartbreaking days when a mother had to let go and it was made that much harder when the little ones cried. This is just the right thing for him to hold onto and keep close till he is home again.
Wondering if you could make a little book bag with the other bigger initial. Or with a zipper for an overnight extra clothing/PJ bag.
So cute! Whst a great idea
What a sweet little bag. I love the little bit of love inside! 🙂
This is such a lovely make! The scaled down letter is perfect and so are the fabrics you chose. I love the little heart inside 🙂
