The C&V Simple Sampler, a Three Color Quilt
I have always wanted to make a sampler quilt, so during 2022-2023 in the Clover & Violet Sewing Club, we made the C&V Simple Sampler, a three color quilt. The quilt could also be made from scraps, but I chose to just use two main colors and then a low volume background.
Long Arm Quilting
I sent it out to Sany at Thai Charm LLC, and was so happy with the pantograph she chose for the quilt. Since I don’t make very many quilts, I am not very familiar with all of the different pantograph designs. Sandy always chooses what seems just perfect for my quilts, so it makes it so easy for me just to send them out!
Backing
She also chose this beautiful Fableism Woven for the back and it makes the quilt so soft. I especially loved how the back has the same colors as the front, just in a softer form. When I first plotted out this three color quilt, I had no idea what I’d use for the back, but I’m just in love with this and my use Fableism for every quilt now!
Fabric Choices
I used my favorite Script fabric by Amy Sinibaldi for Art Gallery Fabrics for the background. I love that the words aren’t directional so that I can easily use it for quilt blocks without worrying about which way things are going.
Both the binding and the red cornerstones are fabrics I’ve had in my stash for many years. Both are tiny dots by Bonnie & Camille for Moda, but from different fabric lines. Sandy bound my quilt for me, and I love the big stitch finish she used on the back of the binding.
