A New Scrappy Trip Around the World Quilt
You may remember Jennie’s scrappy quilt, (now Norah’s quilt), when she finished it she sent me her left over 2 1/2″ strips so I could make one very similar to hers, because I loved hers! I just love looking at all the fabric that is used in making one block and how they all look together when the blocks are side by side, I think this pattern is just perfect!! In case you have not seen the tutorial for this quilt before, this is the link here.
I decided I wanted my quilt to be a little larger, so I added strips from my stash and sewed 8 strips in each set. I am making my quilt with 12 blocks also. Each set must measure at least 20″ to be cut into 8 pieces.
It has been fun adding strips from my stash to the ones she sent me. So far this past weekend I made 4 blocks from my 12 sets and hopefully will finish all blocks by next week. I have not decided on backing yet, still thinking about that. Maybe I should go into the fabric I already have and choose there? Maybe!!
We have a shed to paint this weekend so I am not sure how much sewing I will be able to do, but I can hope! With Fall nearing and the weather cooling, we thought we should paint sooner rather than later. Plus, it is much nicer to paint when not so hot outside!
Enjoy your day!!
oooh, your blocks look wonderful. Love all the pretty fabric s you’re using.
I love how calming the majority of the colors are with the red accent. Sew gorgeous.
It is so so so beautiful. How big do the blocks end up being with 8 strips instead of 6?
Hi Ava,
The blocks are about 16 1/2″ square!
Ooh, I love your blocks! It is going to be such a pretty quilt!
It’s a beauty!! I still need to get my Scrappy Trip Around the World quilted. I need to add borders to it to make it a bit bigger. Yours is very pretty, Clara!
