Back To Sewing
Now that the days are not as long and bright as they once were, I needed a little help. Jennie and I decided to invest in this OttLite for me. It has been wonderful. So far I have only used it while sitting and doing some embroidery, but I have plans of taking it into my sewing room and using it while at my machine. The light is adjustable and can move to just the spot where I need it. It took a little getting used to having that bright of light over me, but once I did it makes all the difference. ย I chose the floor lamp so it would not take up valuable table space. I love it and would consider buying another lamp for using in both of my sewing spaces.
Here is a closer look at the lamp. The other wonderful thing about this light was that it was 50% off at JoAnn fabrics. A great deal!
My grandchildren and daughter are home so I got right back into sewing. I had so much fun while they were here and will cherish that time! ย I started with these trip around the world blocks. I used my favorite The Simple Life fabric and love the way these two blocks turned out. I especially love the red, pink and aqua color scheme.
I also looked into my other favorite fabric selection and found these Sophie prints in the same color scheme and love the way they turned out as well.I put them together and I think they look great. I did find that while I cut my own 2 1/2″ strips of The Simple Life and used jelly roll strips of the Sophie that my strips I cut were just a little narrower. My 1/4″ seam allowance using the jelly roll strips must be different. I think I will measure and trim my jelly roll strips before sewing them together next time. Do you ever have that problem? Good thing I have some fat quarters of Sophie left, I guess I will have to use the two blocks I made for a small project.
I hope you have a great weekend and get a little (or a lot) of sewing in!! I am going to do my best.
I do have the same problem with precut jellyroll strips. I end up trimming off all the pinked edges to get down to exactly 2.5. I love your blocks and color palettes!
I have an ott light and really like it! Mine is a table one because my husband bought it for me as a surprise :). It helps me take photos at night too. Your blocks are really gorgeous, I love that line of fabric.
Hi!!! Your blocks are beautiful!!!! Love the fabrics you used!!! They are so pretty!!! I need to get an ott light soon…my vision gets worse and worse!!!! Thank You
Glad your new lamp looks great, I’m so glad it’s working out for you! And I LOVE your blocks, I finally gave in and started making some too, they’re just too pretty to pass up!
Could you make the two little blocks into a little coordinating pillow or something? I love the aqua and red color scheme, too. Glad you like your Ott light. I’ve always wondered about those.
I love your blocks. Such a great colour combo. Enjoy your weekend.
Your new lamp is beautiful in both style and colour! And your trip around the world blocks are looking wonderful! All your fabrics are looking so good together, and the colours are some of my very favourites!
Wishing you a happy weekend.

My optometrist says that good lighting improves eyesight, for close-up work, by 50%! I certainly think its time I has a new light like yours. Your scrappy trip blocks are fabulous. I’ve never used jelly rolls so I’m no help there!
Hi Clara! :o)

And what a fabulous new lamp.
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Love this. I can see this in that popular quilt that is on the web. What I especially like about it is the color choice. I was told from someone on Twitter that not all precuts are correctly cut. Its pretty!
