Glisten :: Pattern Release & Quilt Along
I did not mean to disappear after my quilting retreat, but with two family visits (hooray!), a little girl turning 2, and Halloween (complete with one homemade costume!), life has been crazy. But, it’s been the best kind of crazy, and somewhere in between, I’ve written my first quilt pattern: Glisten. It’s available in the shop now at half off through the end of next week, giving everyone who wants to quilt along with us a chance to pick up a reduced priced pattern.
The blocks measure 9″ when finished and are designed to be cut from a layer cake (10″ squares), so it is precut friendly. The pattern includes three quilt sizes, a throw, twin, and queen.
And, my friend Keri, owner of Catching Stitches, has put together some kits for you! Here are the options she has available (the kits are throw size, but if you want a twin or queen, Keri will take special orders), just click on the image to be taken straight to the kit (these will ship next week):
Nov. 4: Choose Fabrics
Nov. 11: Choose Fabrics/Begin Cutting
Nov 18: Finish Cutting
Nov. 25: Sew 15 Blocks
Dec. 2: Sew 15 Blocks
Dec. 9: Assemble Quilt Top
Dec. 16: Assemble Quilt Top & Finishing
Dec. 16-Jan 6: Finishing & Link Up
Each week I’ll be giving tips and tricks to help you make this quilt, beyond just the pattern. This is going to be a low key quilt along, with lots of time for finishing up. We’ll also be having a giveaway each week for people who are participating (all drawings will be announced in the Wednesday posts). If you’re active on Instagram, you can post photos with the tag #glistenquiltalong as well as the weekly tag (for this week, #glistengiveaway1). Alternately, if you don’t Instagram, you can add a photo to the linky (while you must have a blog or web address to add a link, you can upload a photo, you don’t need to write a whole new blog post, unless, of course, you want to!) at the bottom of each week’s post.
So, let’s get started! For the first week, just share that you’re participating, show a picture of your fabric choice, or if you’re ordering new fabric or a kit, show us that! (Feel free to share the quilt images above too). Next week I’ll draw a winner to receive my favorite ruler, rotary cutter, and pins set! Hope you’ll join us!
I just ordered the pattern! I’m super excited to join in. Now I’m going to raid my stash to find a fabulous pull since I need to go scrappy!
This is a gorgeous quilt pattern! And I’m glad you got to spend so much family time. There is simply nothing better!
I just ordered the patter and I think I am ready to go! I don’t know how to do the Link thing, my blog is not up just yet. When I click to enter, it takes me to the ‘link’ page. Do I just need to post my pictures on Instagram?
Mindy, you’re welcome to post on Instagram, which is probably easier too! I just don’t want anyone who doesn’t use IG to be left out of the fun! 🙂
I am so proud of you Jennie! This is awesome! Congratulations on a new pattern! I hope this goes well for you! I think you are just a tad crazy, but good crazy! The pattern is awesome and I love that it is precut friendly. Now, I just need to decide if I am crazy enough to join this madness! 😉 Going to buy pattern now!
Congratulations on your new pattern! Beautiful!
Congratulations , This is a very pretty quilt design!
I’d love to sew along, but I won’t be able to keep up due to other commitments, but I sure look forward to seeing what everyone creates
Jennie, the pattern is beautiful I am not sure yet what I am going to pull from my stash to make this yet. I love the Christmas blocks you’ve begun. I have two quilts going already, why not have a third?!! Love you!
I’m in!!! Just ordered the pattern. No blog or IG here. I’m supposed to be cleaning my sewing room now but will pull some fabrics as I go.
That is a very sweet pattern! I happen to have a pack of layer cakes of Fancy by Moda – think that would be very nice to use for this quilt! Still new to quilting, but you saying that it’s a ‘low key’ QAL reassures me that I actually might be able to follow along 🙂 We’ll see …
I got the pattern earlier and posted my cotton and steel fabrics stash on Instagram and on your link for the giveaway. Really pretty pattern.
Would four charm packs make these cuts? I have four of Prairie. Thanks. Cute pattern esp at half price
Hi Peggy, I think you would need five charm packs to cut all the pieces, since you’ll need four larger squares and then the smaller pieces too. Hope that helps!
Jennie
Just starting – got the pattern and will start cutting today!!
