Embroidery 101 :: Block Six
Edit to add: This post was receiving a lot of spam, which can not be controlled on imported posts, so I’ve reposted it, and all the comments were lost!
Block six is here already! Wow, I don’t know about you, but to me this Stitch & Quilt Along is just flying by…or maybe it’s because I got a little behind this last couple weeks…and literally just finished stitching my block {while watching the entire BBC mini-series of North & South on Netflix, and listening to Rhonda’s latest Podcast…}.
Anyway, I tried to make this block a little simpler to allow anyone who has fallen behind {like me!} to catch up a bit {I know that a lot of people have also been extra busy because of school starting back too!}. Download the PDF pattern here and the JPG image here.
This block relies heavily on back stitch, but does also feature the Split Stitch and Coral Stitch from this week’s tutorials. I was going to make the basket pink, but apparently wasn’t paying attention to my own stitching, and did it orange instead…I really wish I had thought to add brown to our color pallet.
For the flowers, I just back stitched circles and then added a French Knot to the centers, but you’re welcome to make your flower bundle whatever you’d like! Also, I found it easiest to stitch the flowers first, before the running stitch in the picnic blanket.
I am also going to extend this linky {and the linky to block five!} so we can see everyone’s beautiful work. And if you post a photo of all six blocks you’ll be entered to win some new embroidery needles, a handmade needle case, and a little travel pouch…happy stitching!
