Farmer’s Wife In Your Life {Kindle Fire Cover}
When Sunni asked me to participate in the Farmer’s Wife in Your Life series, I immediately thought of a cover for my Kindle Fire {find the tutorial here}.
You might remember my entry to the Moda Bake Shop Sliced Contest was also a cover for my Kindle Fire, but this one was actually in the works before I made that one!ย I used the “Homemaker” block for the center, and then added a quarter of four more blocks, so it would look like I cut it out of a quilt.
I also used “Peace & Plenty”, “Night & Day”, “Buckwheat, and “End of Day” for my four corners. I then added two strips of solid {Kona Melon} to the edges to make it wider than it is tall. I had to cut my blocks down in height too, but I thought that added to the design!
The Kindle Fire is held down by elastic {I should have used black…I thought white would match the cover better…but black would have blended in to the Kindle Fire better!}.
I had a lot of fun translating the Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt blocks into something useful for every day!ย I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the neat stuff made with these blocks, it is so fun to make a few coordinating ones and then have the instant gratification of a finished project too!
I also have taken all the photos to make a tutorial for the cover {you’ll have to make your own blocks, but I’ll show you the rest!}, I’ve just run out of time to get it done by this post.ย So look forward to that next week! Find it here.
Have a happy weekend!
Love the fabrics and how you use the blocks to make it look as if it was cut out of a quilt. Cute!
